Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, used a Westminster Hall debate today to address the problems of fuel poverty.
Mr Williams used the opportunity to raise the issues of heating park homes, access to mains gas and the cost of LPG.
Roger Williams said:
"Fuel poverty affects people across the UK but has a particularly powerful impact on people in rural areas where they are often more exposed to the elements.
"Whilst the fuel market is possibly more competitive the cost of LPG is still too high for many people, especially those who are buying in small quantities and are not able to afford the cost of buying in bulk and the savings that this can bring.
"Competition reform needs to ensure that those who are most vulnerable and at risk of fuel poverty are not left behind.
"I know of some old and vulnerable people within my constituency who cannot afford to continue heating their properties throughout the winter and can only heat one room of their homes.
"This must not be allowed to continue in the 21st century and the Government must ensure that as many rural communities as possible are able to connect to a mains gas supply."
