Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has welcomed the announcement that he will be the Liberal democrat Representative on the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee.
Roger Williams said:
"I am very pleased to be the Liberal democrat member on the Science and Technology Committee.
"Scientific research is an issue that I have been interested throughout my life and I am looking forward to being able to focus on this with the committee.
"During much of the last Parliament the areas covered by the committee was undertaken by the Innovation University and Skills Select Committee and was only re-established in 2009.
"The UK has long been a leader in science and technology and I therefore welcome this being recognised through the continuation of the Committee and my appointment to it."
NOTES:
The Science and technology Committee will meet for the first time in the current Parliament at 9am on Wednesday 14th July.
Other members of the committee are: Labour: Gregg McClymont, Pamela Nash, Jonathan Reynolds, Graham Stringer. Conservative: Stephen Metcalfe, David Morris, Stephen Mosley, Alok Sharma and Gavin Barwell.
