WILLIAMS WELCOMES START OF GENERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN

April 8, 2010 9:19 AM

The start of the General Election campaign has been warmly welcomed by Brecon & Radnorshire's Liberal Democrat MP, Roger Williams.

Commenting on the campaign to come, Mr. Williams said:

" The end of this Parliament and the chance for the UK to start afresh with a new one is long overdue. I welcome the chance to take our message about creating a fairer Britain and cleaner politics to the people of Brecon & Radnorshire."

" The country faces some stark choices, between a continuation of the failed policies of the current Labour Government, immediate cuts to public spending and an attack on public services under the Tories or a chance for real change under the Liberal Democrats, away from the old two-party Punch and Judy politics of the past".

" Yesterday's news that the Tories' chief economic advisor in Wales is supporting a report that advocates the scrapping of child benefit, a freezing of the state pension and real-term cuts of £400 million to the Welsh Assembly's block grant shows us all what is at stake. The damage to public services of such a plan, especially in rural constituencies like Brecon & Radnorshire, would be catastrophic."

" I am sure the people of Brecon & Radnorshire will support my message and my record of defending their public services over the past 9 years and am looking forward to meeting many of them over the next few weeks on the campaign trail."

If you are a resident of the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
