Roger Williams MP and Margaret Hodges outside the post office
Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has visited Margaret Hodges, post master for Tremont Post Office, Llandrindod Wells, following the receipt of a £20,000 post office diversification grant.
Changes in the criteria now mean that post offices in more urban areas are now eligible for grants previously restricted to post offices in only the most rural areas.
Roger Williams MP said:
"I would like to congratulate Margaret Hodges on the improvements to her post office, including a more easily accessible entrance and enhanced refrigeration for perishable goods.
"This post office is a model of combining a post office with a convenience store serving the community."
"Margaret and her husband, Mike Hodges, have worked hard top fight plans to closed the post office and involve the community in achieving them. I was pleased to play my part, with Kirsty Williams AM, as well.
"The challenge now is for everyone to support their post office and use it for more services so that it remains viable for the community."
NOTES:
Wales this year saw the total number of post offices across the country fall below 1000.
