Brecon & Radnorshires Liberal Democrat MP, Roger Williams, has written to Transport Minister Paul Clark at Westminster urging him to extend the life of the VOSA goods vehicle testing station at Llandrindod Wells, following recent agreement from the Minister to meet the MP in October.
Commenting on the situation, Mr. Williams said:
The Department for Transport has set a date in late September for the closure of the facility and I have been pressing for a meeting with the Minister for some weeks. He has now agreed to meet me after the proposed closure date, so in my view it is incumbent on him to expend the testing centres life at least until after we have met to discuss the matter. This will also give more time for local providers to develop proposals for alternative provision in the Llandrindod area.
The MP continued:
I am aware that other VOSA stations in the UK have had their lives extended recently and I believe that there is a very strong a case for an extension to the life of the Llandrindod Wells station.
