MP & AM TO MEET WITH LEGION CHAIRMAN & TRUSTEES ON CARE HOME

August 28, 2009 4:48 PM

Brecon & Radnorshires MP Roger Williams and AM Kirsty Williams have secured agreement from the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Royal British Legion (RBL) to meet them and a delegation of local representatives to discuss the RBLs plans for Crosfield House in Rhayader, Powys. The home is the RBLs only current residential and nursing home for former service personnel in Wales. The Legion has announced it wants to sell the home, raising fears that it may close.

Mr. Williams said:

I am delighted that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees has agreed to this meeting. The details for the meeting are still to be finalised, but I expect it to take place within the next few weeks. It is vital that everything that can be done is done to secure the future of Crosfield House and this will be an important step in that process.

Kirsty Williams added:

If the RBL is insistent that the home must be sold, then our task will be to impress on the RBL Board how important it is that it is realistic about the price and conditions of sale, so that a buyer can take it on as a viable option. We will also be working to ensure that the RBL allows sufficient time for that process to take place and provides reassurance for the residents and staff of the home that their future there is secure.

If you are a resident of the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
