ROGER WILLIAMS MP WELCOMES WORK EXPERIENCE PUPILS TO WESTMINSTER

July 21, 2009 5:06 PM

School PlacementRoger Williams, Liberal Democrat MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has welcomed three work experience students to Westminster.

Bethan Hodges, 21, Amy Williams, 14, and Alex Powell, 15, have been shadowing Mr Williams for the past week as he undertakes his Parliamentary and constituency duties.

Mr Williams said:

"I am always happy for constituents to undertake work experience with me. It is important to get young people involved in politics from an early age and I hope that it will prove useful to them in their future studies and careers."

Bethan Hodges said:

"I took the opportunity to do work experience at Parliament when I was at school and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to do it again. It was interesting to see how a committee scrutinises a Bill, such as the Marine Bill, as this is particularly relevant to my degree."

Amy Williams said:

"It was very interesting to see the workings of The Houses of Parliament and I particularly enjoyed the meeting about youth charities in Wales."

Alex Powell said:

"I have really enjoyed this experience and was particularly interested to attend the first All Party Meeting on Bees and Bee Health. I was also amazed by how hectic it is to be a Member of Parliament."

NOTES:

Bethan Hodges, 21, is studying Environmental Sciences at Southampton University

Amy Williams, 14, is studying for her GCSE's at Gwernyfed High School.

Alex Powell, 15, is studying for his GCSE's in Gwernyfed High School.

If you are a resident of the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
