Keep it Clean - Urge Bronllys County Councillor and Community Councillors

Keep TidyCouncillors in Bronllys and local MP, Roger Williams rolled up their sleeves and got dirty as part of the Tidy Towns project as they tackled Bronllys in a bid to restore its aesthetic appearance. Residents from Bronllys have had enough of rubbish and the negative image it has, so they decided to do something about it.

The Welsh Assembly Government funded Tidy Towns project supports the people of Wales to improve the quality of their local environment. Keep Wales Tidy project officers are based in communities across Wales and provide expert advice and support. They encourage communities to adopt their local area and assist volunteers to undertake a range of environmental improvement projects, including; litter picks, path maintenance, improving disabled access, developing community gardens and habitat management. Small grants are available to cover project costs.

The group took up the challenge and gave up their free time to assist in the tidy up on Friday 26th June In total, the group removed six bags of waste from the area.

County Councillor Clair Powell who organised the event said, "It was great to see the local councillors and our MP get involved in this project. By working in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy we have made a huge improvement to Bronllys and shown local residents just how much we can achieve if we all pull together."

Clair added, "Clean ups like this show others how we care about the future of our environment and we are not prepared to live, work and play in an area that is blighted by rubbish. This Tidy Towns event has created a sense of community and we look forward to getting even more local people involved in the future."
