Commenting on the ongoing crisis over Gordon Brown's premiership, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Roger Williams MP said:
"We are facing a series of major issues that must be addressed now, and yet the Cabinet only seem to be concentrating on their own careers.
"Who could possibly believe the Prime Minister when he says he is concentrating on the job in hand?"
"This is like arguing over who gets to steer the Titanic. This Government is finished, and we must have an election so that ordinary voters can have their say on the Prime Minister's record.
"It's all very well for Cabinet Ministers to put their head above the parapet to try and position themselves for their future career prospects, but it will be interesting to see whether they will be brave enough to vote for an early election next week, so that we can all have the luxury of telling the Government what we think of them."
