Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has welcomed the launch of Farmwatch, an organisation that coordinates communities to report suspicious activity and movements to the police.
Mr Williams said:
"Following thefts of quad bikes and diesel from farms it is important that communities have a close link with the police to provide information quickly.
"Police depend on intelligence in order to apprehend criminals but more importantly it is important to deter opportunistic thefts.
"Displaying 'Farmwatch' signs and 'smart water' signs definitely make farm properties less attractive to thieves.
"I am very happy to support this initiative."
Notes:
Smart water is a product which shows up under UV lights. Each application has its own unique chemical identification which can be linked to an individual property or business and therefore allows police to trace a theft back to an individual farm.
