Speaking today on the news that a group of retired Gurkhas fighting for the right to settle in Britain have won their immigration test case at London's High Court, Brecon and Radnorshire MP Roger Williams said,
"I am delighted at this news. For too successive Governments have failed these soldiers who have given their all for this country. The fact that Gurkhas who had served this country prior to 1997 did not have the automatic right to stay in this country was a disgrace".
"This judgement in the High Court will now see the cases of some 2000 former Gurkha soldiers, who retired before 1997, reviewed and I hope that finally their long service, acts of bravery and commitment to this country will be rightfully rewarded with the right to remain in the UK if they so wish".
