"Do not give away your bank and National Insurance details unless you are completely sure of the legitimacy of the email" was the warning from Brecon and Radnorshire MP, Roger Williams today.
Speaking today, Mr Williams has warned people to be extra vigilant when receiving emails claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs.
Mr Williams who himself received one of the scam emails said "I received an email which appeared to have come from HM Revenue and Customs. The email claims that you need to complete a form, providing your details, within 48 hours to receive your tax refund, however when you click on the link it appears to be directed to a website in Spain. The email address is also unrecognised so this whole message appears to be a scam".
Mr Williams continued "I will be contacting the police and HM Revenue and Customs to advise them of this problem. In the meantime I would urge members of the public to be extra careful if they receive an email claiming to be from the HMRC".
