    After hearing of the news of the death of Lord Emlyn Hooson QC, Roger Williams, Member of Parliament for Brecon and Radnorshire said:

    "This is incredibly sad news; Lord Hooson was a great servant of liberalism and to the people of Montgomeryshire and Wales. He was a great friend and family man. He will be sorely missed in Westminster and in his beloved home town of Llanidloes.

    ACTION NEEDED TO PREVENT FURTHER RURAL BANK CLOSURES- WILLIAMS

    Brecon and Radnorshire MP Roger Williams used today's Westminster Hall debate to highlight the damaging effect bank closures have on rural communities.

    The debate has been widely seen as a success having achieved cross party consensus stressing the need for a Banking Summit and the consideration of pilot schemes for Community Banking facilities, in order to maintain access to financial services in rural areas.

    Brecon and Radnorshire, Liberal Democrat MP Roger Williams has secured a ninety minute Westminster Hall debate on "High Street Bank Branch Closures in Rural Areas".

    After the announcement that HSBC was to close its Presteigne Branch, Roger Williams applied for a debate to discuss the impact that these closures have on rural communities.

    Brecon and Radnorshire, Liberal Democrat MP Roger Williams has welcomed today's call by the Deputy Prime Minister to raise the income tax threshold to £10,000 sooner than originally planned.

    The Government increased the tax allowance by £1,000 in the 2010 Budget, from £6,475 to £7,475. This year we have already announced a planned rise of an additional £630, to take the allowance up to £8,105. Meaning that a total of 1.1 million more people will no longer pay income tax at all.

    ROGER WILLIAMS WELCOMES WELSH BUDGET AGREEMENT

    Today Roger Williams welcomed the announcement from Kirsty Williams that the Welsh Liberal Democrats would work with the Labour party on the Welsh Assembly Budget.

    The Welsh Liberal Democrats have agreed to support the Welsh Labour Government's 2012-2013 Budget on the basis of securing £32 million, of which £20 million is new money, for a Welsh pupil premium to reduce the impact of poverty on educational attainment.

    ROGER WILLIAMS MP SHOWS HIS SUPPORT TO END THE FILIPINO DOG MEAT TRADE

    Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, met with Network for Animals (NFA) and the Kennel Club on the 24th November 2011 to collect a petition which calls for the reinforcement of the ban on the Filipino dog meat trade. Shiva the dog also came along to deliver the petition and show solidarity with her fellow canine friends in the Philippines.
